    Hi Everyone,

I decided to buy a psp that is able to load emulators and play psx games after bumping into this site. I know its kinda late to buy a psp Now all i have to do is to buy a psp.

The shop assistant said that the psp 3000 firmware is 5.03, chickHEN ready.

I can't wait to play some good old classic rpgs on psp

    3000 story:

    1) they're unbrickable.

    2) it's not downgradeable.

    3) not all homebrew is compatible with it. emus are, however.

    4) seriously limited in CFW choices. 5.03 gen-c. and what if some jackass grabs your psp and decides to update it to 6.20? That story has been told here many times before.

If you STILL have the choice of buying a psp, at least buy a 1000 or do some research to safeproof a purchase of a hackable 2k, it's my dearest advice.

Thanks for the advice. if i have to purchase 1000 or 2000 series, i can only get 2nd hand/3rd hand. I doubt there is brand new set for me to purchase.

there are some new hackable 2000's out there, new 1000's are harder to find but does it really matter? if you are able to check it out before you buy you would be able to see it's condition. I got my 1000 off craigslist and it was in very good condition. faceplate had normal scrubs on it, but a new faceplate for a couple bucks and it is like new.

if you want a brand new one, enjoy the hunt

faceplates (and there are much cooler ones) are about 15-20 bucks,

replacement screens (if you think you can handle such a replacement) are about 35-40 bucks.

so if it works, it's banged up, and you're willing to shed some cash for it to look like new, then an older model is best.

another alternative is refurbished. i have a red 2k (guaranteed hackable) refurb'd and it has 3 imperfections: the faceplate is slightly cracked, the stick is tilted upsides a little, and the screen had no protection from the faceplate for some reason. it got scratches from a paper tissue lol. but i know i can change the plate and fix the stick anytime and i put a screen protector on it, i just have to wait for the warranty lol
