very easy,...hook up psp through usb, .....download the latest Gen, check Goku he has a link in sig,....unzip it.....copy and drag the update to the PSP/Game folder....turn it on, go to Game on The XMB, and run the update...there...you have ancient CFW but its no problem going from the CFW your on now to 5.50 Gen d3

yes its that simple......now when you run the update, itll take awhile just like a normal update on OFW, and itll say installing 5.50 firmware, just hit yes, itll be CFW....now the only thing im not certain about is i think you need the OFW eboot files on your root of your memory stick, use google for those, I havent updated for awhile so its been awhile since i messed with this

Do it on the Memory stick your using, cause you need to run the update from the XMB....and your other question, no, your fine, get the update either here or on the pspgen site and you wont have a problem....oh another thing...on the eboot, rename em 550.PBP
