Well, my laptop doesn't have a dvd burner and I want to put ubuntu or fedora or what ever I can get. I would really appreciate it if someone would be willing to send me a copy of the boot disc. Also, a link to a compatible umm, actually I don't know what it is called. It's like the thing that goes on a usb flash drive. Thanks in advance.

Well, you're in luck because psubuntu fits nicely on a regular CD.

And, I wish I knew what you were talking about with the flash drive, but I can think of too many things that can go on a flash drive to be of any assistance currently.

Almost every Linux distro can fit on a CD, so you do not have to go with psubuntu. You can try the standard ubuntu distribution, which also ships CD's for free. They just take a long time to deliver.

He should probably just stick to a distro specifically designed for the PS3. I get the feeling that he may be new to the Linux scene, and tweaking a standard Linux install might be too much. Pirate's suggestion of PSUbuntu would have been my choice also.

Oh whoops, I missed the PS3 part in the forum title. Yeah, he should stick with psubuntu if he's going to run in on the PS3.

No, don't use Ubuntu.
I linked you to Psubuntu for a reason. It's designed for your PS3.
Ubuntu will work, but it won't work as well, and it will take some changing around.
Now, if don't know what you're doing when it comes to linux, which I assume you don't, then you honestly won't have a chance to use something else, because you won't know what you're doing, and you won't be able to figure it out.

Trust me, I'm not a moron. I know that Ubuntu (and Kubuntu) ships CD's for free (I have them), and I know that a lot of distros will fit on a CD. But, since PSubuntu is designed for the PS3, and you won't have to struggle, you'll be looking to install that.

the flash drive "thingy" I think you are referring to is a USB thumb drive with the kboot loader. use the kboot loader included in the PSUbuntu download and out it on the thumb drive and select install other OS.
