How do I instail it onmy ipod?

i beleive you are reffering to ipodlinux. if so youre on the wrong forum go to iPodWizard.net - Home there is a whole section on it. and if you have a 5th gen (video) theres auto installers for it, but i must say that IPL sucks. go with rockbox its better. or there wiki page iPod Linux - Linux for your iPod i think the apple OS is the best out of all 3 of them.

i wish i could mod my 2nd gen nano..btw cp are you a mod or something over there?
not a mod, i just have been there for about a year. so i know alot of stuff about ipod modding. i just dont bother with messing with the resources.

Linux on IPOD ?! WTF !
Dude, linux will run on anything.. even a refrigerator (not joking)
IPL sucks, Rockbox is okay but kinda meh. I'd just stick with the stock Apple firmware, it's actually the best possible firmware for the iPod unless you absolutely NEED to have OGG and FLAC support. Plus, with IPL and Rockbox, you lose alot of the video capability.
I personaly use and enjoy Rockbox. At first I too was frustrated with the video playback issues, untill I realized that Rockbox doesn't overwrite the apple firmware, and that you can quick boot into the original firmware whenever you want to watch movies. Of course, it has kind of become a non issue since I'd rather watch video on the PSP.
I personaly keep my music collection in OGG format, but the 2 main reasons why I prefer Rockbox over the iPod firmware are the ability to manipulate / delete files from within the iPod and being able to manage my iPod like an external drive. You know, without having the file names encoded, and the files being shuffled around to diffrent directories. Since I run only Linux systems, it is much easier, for me, to directly access the HD versus having to go through a 3rd party piece of software like gtkPod, to emulate iTunes if I want to move music around or change album art. Also there's the added bonus of being able to manipulate your files from any computer that has usb drive support. No need to find a computer with iTunes / GTKPod just to be able to add some music.
Of course there's also the ability to customize the interface. I'm guessing we all like that, noting the forum that we're posting in.
But you're right. If you're purely a Windows user, and don't really need to access / mnipulate the iPod files on the go, then, the Apple firmware is definately the way to go, as it manages the systems resources (processor, battery, etc.) much better.
