Unless you decompile it and recode it for Linux, there's not much you can do other than using an emulator such as Wine or Darwin.

Do you use iTunes for media purchases, or just for managing your iPod. If you don't need it for buying stuff, then don't worry. There are many Linux alternative programs for managing your iPod. Amarok, Gtkpod, Banshee and GNUpod are some of the most common. Or you could go a different direction, if you preferred, and put a Linux compatible firmware on your iPod.

But, if you need iTunes for buying music, you're out of luck, as far as I know.

There has been some limited success with installing iTunes under Wine, but if you're new to Linux, it probably isn't even worth investigating. If you think you might be interested check out the app. database at Wine HQ

I just use Amarok to manage mine. I don't buy music from the iTunes store, I buy real CD's and rip them to OGG/Vorbis.

I also use Rockbox on my iPod.

RockBox is definitely a nice alternative if you're worried about iPod support. Other than that, what's the reason for it? Apple fan possibly?
