i'm thinking of upgrading it, from a 2.0ghz core duo to a 2.33 core 2 duo, adding in 802.11n support and upping the hard drive from 250gb to either a 750gb drive or a raptor, do any of you think it'd be a good idea?

the 330mhz speed bump will be barely noticeable. Max your ram to 3gb for increased performance. The wireless N only really applies if you are utilizing an N router.

I would wait until at least the end of june when the 27' is getting killed off and the 20' will take its place price wise, and a 30' will take the place of the price of the 24'.

Black iMacs by Christmas time I am pretty sure.

What you got already is awesome home computer, so I say stick with it and spend the money on something else.

i plan on getting both the airport extreme and an apple tv, thanks to the storage jump, so i see the reason for updating the networking, for the side of storage, the i/o options on my mac are being exhausted by all the external drives. the change of procressor would only be to get it to a full 64 bit system and be able to use the mac os to it's fullest.

Apple tv is lame. Get a mini and use it as a media center hooked to your TV. It supports more formats, and that way you will always have a backup Mac.

I'm doing quite the opposite, waiting for the price drop on a 24' and then moving my mini to a tv.

Still needing a macbook, I wont have any but the black so I am penny pinching; sort of. I splurged on a wii.

if you check something like http://appletvhacks.net you'll see that they've got divx and xvid

i don't really need another mac, i think three is enough.
appletv is nicer than a mini for media.

i want something my parents could use as well, so it's really the obvious choice.

hm, that's weird. appletvhacks has gone under, probably too much bandwidth used for it.

    meh

1ghz intel solo vs 1.66ghz duo.

Your choice, I just personally think that the mini is a better media machine than the apple tv. Apple tv has problems with certain .avi videos; and most all captured video available through the torrents is .avi
