Default couple questions about videos on psp

well i have some movies that i want to convert to put on my psp so i can take them on bus rides and stuff i just have a couple of questions

what format do the files need to be in?

what program should i use to convert my DVD?

is there a program that can cut parts of the DVD? (i have the season 1 & 4 dvds of That 70's show so i only want to put episodes on my psp not the whole DVD)

is there anything i have to put on my psp to play the videos?

anything that will be helpful for me i would appreciate it. maybe you can link me to a guide or something as i am not familiar with this.

thanks ahead of time

they need to be in MP4 format.

A very good program to use is WinMenc. you can rip from a dvd right to psp resolution and format

Dvd shrink is good as well for selecting certain chapters

The best program I have personally used for this is DVDFab Platinum 4. the full version allows to rip straight to PSP format. It does take about 2 hours to rip an hour and a half long movie though.

for dvd ripping the best i have used is Slysoft's CloneDVD Mobile. On a 1.8ghz P4 with 768mb ram it would rip and encode to avi in slightly over real-time. I was ripping it for tv viewing too, so ripping a dvd for the psp's lower resolution would probably be faster, especially if you have a good pc and good dvd drive.
