To be honest, 808s and Heartbreak is one of the best albums in a while. Definitely not rap, but Kanye used the Auto-tune really really nicely.

man HB and 808s is just a r&b cd with a bunch of bass....the best cd like sully said was paper trail, then recession,. then carter3...but get rich or die tryin was very good...the best cd a heard in a while, since tupac and bigge..

808s & Heartbreak is the best album I have heard in a while. Yes, it is not rap at all, but it doesn't matter, cause the songs on the album are simply amazing.

50 is a joke. He doesn't produce his own stuff.
He's arrogant enough to say he's the next 2Pac, when his lyrics aren't even written by him. He's a shitty freestyler and can only manage to make club hits.

Kanye's new album is more about him and less about sales. I respect that. He's doing something for him, something he feels. He is embracing the music as and artform. He's also looking to other lesser known styles and genres for inspiration. Electronica. Following the foot steps of Timbalan (as a Producer not a rapper. god awful solo act.) This is a big deal. I haven't respected West since his underground days. Doing the shit he did on the Chappel Show. Not to mention a collaboration with Mr.Carter himself. (Lil Wayne)

As for the anti-rap/anti-hip hop. Open your mind a lil bit. Some of it is really good and powerful. The more genres you learn to appreciate... the better your understanding and respect of the artform. Not everyone is gonna be great. But there are some who just defy stereotypes. Those are the true artists.
