MP-4 wouldnt play without box image?!?

This is the strangest thing that happened to me with the psp.
a friend ripped a dvd, and sent it to me in mp4 format.
im using a cfw, so i stuck it in VIDEO. and it said 'Unsupported data'.. ok whatever, stick it in 101anv01... 'Unsuported data'.. wtf right?
so im wondering perhaps the frame rate of the movie is too low or too high.. so i convert it to 25fps... back to the video folder.. 'unsupported data'... mmm.. anv folder??... 'unsupported data'.. so i start thinking this video is corrupt, so i try to play it on my computer.. it works!
So wtf is the problem? well i go back to the original movie and see that he included a .thm box art image.. i put that and the video in the anv folder, and all of the sudden it starts playing!?
The video wouldnt play without the box art image.. thats a new one to me.

Well you can always make your own .thm by taking a .jpeg and resizing it to 160x120 and changing the .jpeg extension to .thm. Also make sure the .thm and the movie have the same name.
