Default PSP as an mp3/music player

I want to use my psp as an mp3 player a bit more but the software is pretty crap, can you upload something to give you better options for playing music etc? Plus the earphones i got with it barely give any sound out, any recommendations?

thanks,
R.

Ok, no offense but skullcandy isn't good enough to recommend, they're alright at most. For music you should get some noise canceling ear cup headphones if you really want to take advantage of the sound. Some good makers are Sony, Bose, Sennheiser. I have a pair of these but am about to get these in a couple months. Go search around the reviews on Cnet to find what headphones would suit you best but I recommend the ones above.

And the interface for music on the PSP isn't that bad actually. I organize everything by artist and album so it works fine for me. I have an 8Gb pro duo and keep all my music on there. I actually prefer listening to music on my PSP than ipods. I returned my 30GB black ipod a day after I bought it 2 years ago.

PSP has very good sound quality. I remember a while ago, a guy who was a sound engineer used his psp for background music at concerts he set up.

You can get refurbished 8GB sticks at SonyStyle for $99.99. This is the one that I got, works great!

Or you can try Amazon for $86.44

That was off-topic and didn't add anything. Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com is just a section of Cnet.com that has nothing to do with Memory sticks or headphones.

reubybuby was banned before for spamming. Seems like hes doing it again....

And i think the PSP's mp3 player is fine, i dont know of any homebrew apps that are better.

If you really want good quality sound with noise cancellation I recommend you to get a pair of Sennheiser's they are the best brand I've used.

Sennheiser isn't good enough to recommend. The sound quality spikes at high major points. As for the PSP having good sound quality or not, I can't say it doesn't but on some songs the tempo is distorted. For example, Fort Minor - Believe Me.

SkullCandy has earcup headphones and they are reallyi good ones, they have some that fold up to like just the cup size and give great quality.
I would completely recommend skullcandy's, personally.
