Default Is the PSP true 16x9?

I ripped a DVD with DVDFab 5 and there are still black borders at the top and bottom. It looks great but why the borders still? Do I have to crop off the left and right edges to get it to fill the screen?

I'm confused.

Sony PSP Screen is not a perfect 16:9 ......... If you do the math :-

Standard 16:9 aspect Ratio =) 16/9 = 1.777 AR

Sony PSP Screen aspect Ratio =) 480/272 = 1.764 AR

But i dont think thats the main reason why you are getting the black borders ...... Most of the movies these days are shot in either 2.35 AR or 1.85 AR ....... So you will definitely get some black borders in your PSP or a widescreen 16:9 TV ....... So yes you will have to crop some left and right area of the movie using the converter ....... OR you can use Expand To Fit (Without Cropping) option to fill up the screen, but your movie will look a bit stretched.

eh, I'm pretty sure standard 16:9 is 1.765 AR, anyway to get rid of these bars you'd have to cut off some of the sides a bit, which usually doesn't hurt the movie that much. I use Xvid4psp. When you open a file it shows you a preview and you can crop it to what ever AR you wan't (preferably 16:9 .)

I just customized the options in PSP Video 9 to make my videos full screen. Gladiator looks great.

If you use PSP video 9 just change your settings so they read like this.
