yep, im assuming any "software hack" to increase the volume would basically create distortion anyways, I suggest buying a great pair of headphones with "noise canceling technology", They boost volume and bass from the source and are usually comfy as cause they cost a bit.

there is a software called light mp3 that boosts up ur psps volume upto 100% more but any more than that would distrot the sound
WARNING-It can harm ur psp if u play it on max

Or you can use the audioboost.prx plugin... its better plus it can play music while in games...
With the music mod.prx

That's what sucks about Sony's audio stuff, the max volume is always kind of low. My Walkman mp3 player works ok, with my $15 super bass headhones }
