I am gonna mod my original Xbox starting tomorrow. I need some help in doing this and it would be great if one or two of you guys could also lend a hand in addition to N8's. I have one of the first Xboxes ever made according to my research so far. My kernel is 4034.01 and my dashboard is 4034.01 (yes, they are both version 4034) and that is why i beleive it is one of the first. Also i think that because the last saved gamesave on this used xbox is from early 2004, and there is only like 8 different games that he saved. So this thing as of now is assumingly in very good condition! Please I.M. me so that I can still continue in modding even when N8 isn't online. Add me:
    MSN: WarstrongXan@hotmail.com
    AIM: LakeT06

Thanks! And please if you are also in somewhat of the same boat as me you should post here also. Maybe we can get a group chat going
Hope you had a nice XMas! Help me modding my original Xbox. See my thread in Anything Goes Here forum

as for the xbox the best place to start is xbox-scene.com a huge forum just like this, with everything you need to know.... all the software needed can be found at xbins, which is a ric channel called #xbins.

I thought I was screwed with the 2.71 as far as all the crazy homebrew the 1.5 can run......

    EDIT: i think i hav ta-082...so ...yeah....screwed

Don't double post. First warning. 3 double posts = 1 week ban.

yah thats the whole reason behind getting the chip. Only some games will check for the original hard drive. I think Halo 2 did that when you try to play on live. So I would have to pull out the 300gig hard drive I had in mine each time I would want to play halo online with the original 6gig ( think it was 6, don't quote me on that!), which was never so it didn't really matter anyways.

I've been doing some modding on my xbox, and I used the Ndure hdm softmod, for a tutorial, go here. (If you want the individual files, just pm me.) I believe it allows you to do anything a chip can, including playing on LIVE. Although, unless you've already registered on LIVE, I suggest you get a bigger harddrive, if you want to put backups, videos, etc. on it.

    My Xbox is Chipped.
I can download games from block buster on my 160gb hard drive.
    I can play burnt games
    and much more....

My dad got the chip professinally installed.

And there are some chips you can turn off for live, but other then that you cant go live.

It does. Try upgrading a hdd on a flash and you will want to kill yourself. My friend did the flash and he tired to upgrade the hard drive. It took him well over 4 hours to finish also because he was new to it. But still, not worth it. I say chip it.

i dunno what you're talking about dood, only difference between a tsop flash and modchip is that you can turn the modchip off. I installed my 200gb in bout 5 minutes, and that's just cuz it took that long to format, and I have it tsop'd with the evox m8 bios.
