What would be the best laptop to get with a $800-1300 Budget? No Mac, I dont feel like re-downloading programs i have for windows...

I dont know too much about hardware for compters, only software.

I want it for alot of games, and Mainly Video editing (so i will need a decently fast processor for Rendering) Space is not an Issue, i will have to buy a few External Hard Drives anyway! And what sort of things should I look for in the laptop if no one can think of a specific model? and can the video card be upgraded on this model? etc.

    Thanks guys

mine costed 850 dollars with tax included(~799,99)
its a HP Pavilion dv2125nr Entertainment Notebook PC
it has an AMD Turion 64X2 (Running @ 1.6 GHz with 256x2kb cache)
with 1 gb RAM memory, and 120 GB Hard Drive Disk
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (128 MB Video)
I got it from Best Buy...
its fine, never lags, and I havent had any problem with multitasking, and never has run out of resources (like giving errors of low ram memory available)

Thew Geforce go Video cards, are built right on to the motherboard. So you cant change em.

Yeah, that's the way 99% of laptops are. Plus the Go series uses shared memory for VRAM if I'm not mistaken, and that's BAD BAD BAD.

You can't get any laptop with a Core 2 duo for under $1700 right now. Yes, that includes Macbooks. You CAN get the older Core duo for under $1000 though.

Sorry, but that's total bullshit. Number 1 - they don't have or make 2gig videocards for laptops yet and probably won't for at least another five years or more. The highest is 512meg, and that's a Mini PCI-E card which only comes on some of the l33t Alienware models. Number 2 - a laptop with 4gig of RAM would cost well over $2500 USD, simply because laptop RAM is so expensive. It would need 2x2gig or 1x4gig chips, depending on motherboard layout, and last I checked a 2gig laptop DDR DIMM was $250+ and the 4gig was $700+ which makes your claim highly unlikely. Number 3 - 320gb? lol. Do you have any idea how much a 320gb 2.5" laptop hard drive would cost? Somewhere around the tune of $500, and that leads me to believe even more that you are BSing. Number 4 - $1800 AUD - Bullshit. With the conversion rates from USD to AUD a laptop of that spec would cost around $7000 AUD.

Finally, there is no such thing as a 'custom built laptop' unless you literally buy a gutted chassis and mainboard and LCD and build it yourself. Laptops come with whatever videocard and soundcard it has for the particular model - you can't just call em' up and say "Yeah, I'd like an Inspiron 5800 laptop but instead I want 512meg of VRAM" it just doesn't work that way. The only upgradeable parts are the hard drive and the RAM, and in some special cases, the video card if it's Mini PCI-E (and only VERY high-end laptops come with a Mini PCI-E slot.) Plus, most laptops only have one DIMM slot, and a max capacity of 2gig total RAM, and alot of the laptops with two DIMM slots also have a 2gig max total RAM cap.

thanks for all the replys guys, heres more specifically..

I want to be able to play WOW on it, and maybe 3 or 4 other games, but not like TOO many games, its not MADE for gaming, more for video editing and school and screenplay writing... but also when everyone says "megaduo hard RAM internal nvida Gforce stuff.. im not understanding it lol... can someone say that its very fast gamewise and such?

also i want a nice looking one, and willing to spend more... but trying to keep it cheap.. not looking for "The BEST"
