Yep, got me the good ol' ring of death, even so, I've gotten 2.3 years out of it before it broke. It's error code 0020, I know someone who used to work at the repiar centers is currently on or was on the board at one point, anyone know who that is?

I just don't know if I should send it in as, it's been opened and flashed

Oh man that sucks. It happened to my friend too. He did mod it like you though. He just had to buy a new one cause he never bought a warranty.
"Owned" (often typed in leet speak among gamers) is an internet slang word used commonly in gaming circles to acknowledge a form of superiority through the downfall of another entity, be it another gaming clan, or a single user.

that was me. error code 0020 I belive means your on board video chip has failed due to being over heated. Its close to the cpu and the cpu gets way hot. Hence the cpu re-design for the elite model. How many red lights are you getting? 2,3, or 4? that is important to trouble shoot as well. If you have opened andflashed the box, caalling 1-800-4-my-xbox is useless as they will just send it right back to you once they take it out of the box at the service center. I would suggest buying another MB off EBAY and doing a MB swap. 2.8 years is a pretty good run for launch consoles. Don't feel bad, I have got calls from people that got the reds right out of the box from the store.

if you have 4 red lights- disconnect the av and reconnect firmly.
if you are still getting the reds try another av cable if possible, as well as testing yours on another 360 if possible

if you have three or two red lights- remove the HD and try starting it without it. if it boots up your HD is the problem. if it does boot, shut down and reconnect HD and try again.

what color is the led on the brick when you turn it on?

    Yea, it's 3 red lights

The harddrive is not the problem
I've got no clue what it is.
The LED on the power brick is green

you removed the HD and tried without it? if so then like i said before a MB swap is goign to be your only fix, besides a whole new system.

ya i meant you doing the swap. the service center wont do anything to an opened console, and then they will charge you shipping costs to send it back. even if your box was not opened i am pretyy sure the warranty has expired, and the repair would be like $150, so a MB swap is your only real option that is cheaper than a new box.

and I dont work for 1-800-4-my-xbox anymore because I was on a call with a guy that was really pissed and cussing at me. he said he was not going to ever buy an xbox again and that he was going to get a ps3 when they launched. I told him I would see him in line. the call was monitored by a MS rep and I didn't know. they fired me for telling someone I was getting a ps3. bastards. I still have not got a ps3. damn my mouth.

the job was cool, except all the red light shenanigans got old after taking like 60 of those calls a day. they did hook me up with free live while i worked there. they also had 5 360 units in the building hooked up to live with a huge game library. that made for great break times. what they did never catch me for was sending free wireless controls, wifi adapters, and hd cables to all my friends. I had that kind of power and I abused the hell out of it. and I ended up getting fired on the spot for the ps3 comment.

Woah, the person I get on the phone is some stupid guy who can barely speak english, and after being on hold for an hour, he tells me it's out of warranty by a week or something, what should I do with the swap?

you probably pushed a wrong button on the automaed service and got Manilla in the phillipines. Thats where they out sourced the original x box support to. all you need to do is find a MB on ebay buy it and swap it out.
