actually you can edit scenes. it's quite easy. you start out with footage of somebody saying something, you cut to people cheering/crying whatever, then you cut back to the same person saying something else. michael moore clearly did this in the scene about the NRA speech after columbine. and some people actually believed it. i like to call these people moore-ons.

me.Isn't this guy showing people what the U.S does "UNDER the table" and what companies do behind doors??
If thats right.. This guy rocks! Its good someone out there SHOWS whats the REAL face of @#% in the U.S.
I may be wrong.. If I am sorry.
he doesnt tell both sides of the story or give an honest insight to what hes filming, but instead edits the segments together so the people say what he wants them to say and makes his films look one sided and basically only voicing his opinion on each issue he covers. i found a quote on another site that pretty much sums him up:
"A blowhard who pretends to advocate the views of the average American despite holding opinions that the majority of Americans find absurd."
the sort of editting you're talking about now, gen, is a far cry from what you originally suggested, which is taking pieces of what someone is saying and editting them to make it sound like they mean something else. simply cutting away while someone is talking is one thing, it doesn't change what they are saying. and i've seen every michael moore film except for his most recent and i can tell you when someone is digging themselves a hole, michael moore isn't just creating it by jump cutting all over the place. the head of the nra, charlton heston, suggested that gun violence is caused by the mixing of the races. there WAS NO jump cut there. you can't show a person talking and only them talking and cut it in such a way that it means something else w/o that cut being visible. the whole segment where charlton heston says this (in an interview that took place at his residence) does not contain any cuts. it is not doctored. people would love to go back and take back what it is they said after the fact. i'm sure charlton heston is regretting it. but he did say it.
and no julie, he generally doesn't give both sides. he's not a "documentarian," even tho his work gets lumped in w/ documentaries. he isn't interested in "fair and balanced." he's out to give his side of the story. i don't think he ever claimed to be doing anything other than that.
just another dumb ass liberal who would rather spend more time attacking things then actually coming up with ideas.
i hate both parties and i wish they would vanish.
He's a faggot.
i'm white but if you used a racial slur against someone i'd be offended too. and you'd look just as intelligent if the guy you said it against wasn't the minority group you were slurring. and finally, it goes to show you have no intelligent arguments to make.
[note: and yes this was worded stronger than this, but i'm not about to open myself up for banning b/c of your sickness.]
rofl!!! i love listening to the sound of the wind whistling between your ears. it's such a beautiful high-pitched melody.
