Xbox 360 Qestion- Help Pleaz!!!

well I got a 360 wile back but was wondering how the heck do you update the system software version. I looked into it and there are some different ways but the only way that i can do it is via a cd. But what the heck do i do??? I looked on the xbox website and it said put the zip in the cd folder and burn it and it then it should come up saying system update, so i did and nothing came up. So then I tryed to unzip the file and put the update folder in the cd and burn it, but still no luck. Can anyone help me out?

why not just create a free XBL silver account and download from the xbox itself?

are you using a black CD or a blank DVD?

the way i created a silver account was by giong to a game that has a xbox live create an acount and sumwhere it tells u to choose a silver account which is the first option and the rest of the options ar gold accounts but other than that choose silver account and u created a sliver account
