Can anyone tell me how to disable windows XP anti-virus? I don't need it as I use AVG so I want to turn it off but I don't know how. I've been in to the security centre etc but just cannot find how I do it, please help.

Windows XP does have a built in anti-virus and firewall. I've disabled the firewall because I have ZoneAlarm and now I want to disable the anti-virus and have searched the security centre but can't find a way, i'm certain there is a way to do it.

Windows (XP included) only has a firewall...If that is disabled, you should be fine.

He likely has Nortan or Mcafee installed but doesn't realize it.

If he does in fact have McAfee I strongly suggest not deleting it...McAfee likes to intertwine with vital systme components and when you uninstall McAfee it uninstalls those components attached as well...had to reformat my computer because of that...
