from my knowledge vista computers came with the regular (most of them anyway) windows vista premium which were 32 bit opperating system. Their were the 64 bit version in the ultimate versions if my memory serves right. Anyway my friend is about to buy a computer and she called me to ask me what i thought. What was shocking was that this computer had windows vista premium and 3 gigs of ram!. Now plz coorect me if i am wrong but isnt the max amount of ram that a 64 bit system can process is 2 gigs? i know it was either 2 or 3 but i cant put my finger on it. Either way if it is 3 then with a 3.0ghz or higher processing speed wouldnt ps2 emulation run uberly smooth on a system of that calibre?

no no no not how much it can hold or how many free slots it has. i know that a reg dektop can hold up to 8. i wanna know how many the computer can actually process. cuz if they can process up to 8 gigs now..i mean really...they might as well just make everythin pc XD. and 8 gigs. here i come

    yes, I believe a 64 bit can do 8, while a 32bit can do 4 gigs.
Today has been the most beautiful day I've ever seen.

im not 100% sure, but in my comp apps class last year, the teach told us that a 64 bit processor could theoretically handle something like 300 gigs of ram, but that's impractical on about 80 different levels..... eh just throwin my 2 cents in

the theoretcial limit for 64-bit cpu's is 16 exabytes, or 16.8 million terabytes. this is found by 2^64. 2^32 is equal to 4gb, it's not imposed by the OS, but by the hardware.

i looked this up when vista 64 came out, and on the micro$oft website, it claims 64 ultimate can handle 192gb of ram
    64 premium- can handle 16

    but remember... its still VISTA!
