Also wats all this information with verions 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 2.6 ? Well, for more detailed information use the search button and read the stickies. I will provide a brief synopsis for you here though.

You can connect the psp to a MAC with the usb and do all the things you could on a pc with it, with the exception that some of the programs that are made to convert videos to the format used by the psp are made only for pc's, but there are converters for MAC.

The firmware is like the operating system on the psp. You can only downgrade psp's with version 2.0. Anything above and you are stuck with it. Most games can be played on a 1.5 psp, even if they require an update to a newer version. There are programs that run on 1.5's to launch the games. Some exceptions are GTA and Socom. You must have 2.0 to play these games. You can always upgrade.

Homebrew are applications not made by sony that are made to run on the psp. 1.0 and 1.5 psp can run all homebrew. 2.0 can run about 70% of all homebrew. 2.01, 2.5, and 2.6 can now run about 30% of homebrew but its still in the early stages and it not perfect, in fact its quite buggy but still a wonderful accomplishment.

You can find out what firmware a psp has by the box so you will know before you buy it, what you will be getting. See this thread.

Welcome to the forums, maybe you should create a thread in the introduce yourself section
