I have a combination of two things. I have zone alarm PRO which protects you in real time from spyware and it tells you what it blocked. (not viruses) It also prevents those annoying popup ads that spyware try to put up. You know, the ones that say you have 123,3532,12345323423 viruses.

Along with that, I have symantec anti-virus which protects me from viruses in real time just like zone alarm. Basically the same thing as zone alarm PRO.

With these two combined, I have not had any problems with my computer and it is running very fast.

I thought having two AV systems was a bad thing....

I don't have one, just Windows Firewall. I trust what I download .

Best anti-virus software = Linux ... nuff said

But for all us Windows users, Avast or AVG free editions work just fine for blocking threats. Of course for most users anti-virus software is a gimmick...I've run multiple systems with "no protection" and nothing occurs.

For all the download freaks, hidden trojans are always a problem so beside running vmware,98, or the mention linux you'd want some software.

I hate Norton and McAfee, working at Dell I got to see how much they can fuck up your system if they get corrupted or even just expire.

Go to download.com and pick out a high rated free program, that will be enough.

If your smart enough you don't need a anti-virus.

But I go with NOD32, hands down it's the best.
