OK guys, i be getting a new desktop tomorrow, its from Dell and its one that i "constructed", except that Mom didnt want to put a wifi card in it because of all the other crap its got on it. And, the computer was a little on the expensive side, so thats what she cut out.

    Anyway, onto the question.

Since my lappy has a wifi card, would it be possible for me to connect to our wifi, and share the wifi connection with the Desktop?

Lappy's running XP SP2 (cause AVG freaks out and delets my windows folder when i install sp3 for some reason...)
and on my second partition im running Linux as a backup, but that OS is just bare bones, only what i absolutely need to recover XP.

And i think the desktop will be running Vista Home Premium, mabe Vista Basic. oh and SP1.

I know you can share ethernet and set up a computer as a router, so you can share with things that have wifi cards, but can you share wifi with an ethernet connection???

I will even post a screenie of the internet connection page, if necessary.

No. You have to connect your Desktop to a Router, or get a USB Wifi thingy.

You sure? cause there are some people who ask the question in other forums, then they say they've "figured it out," but offer no explanation.....

eh,not that important anyway, just wanted to play some halo and CNC without a laggy computer online for once.

And where would i buy a USB wifi thingy? any specific brands?

this explains it all, google it and find a cheap one because they are discontinued...then come back to me and i will show you how to hack it, not take it apart, but use it with anything like ps3, psp, laptops, etc..you can use it up to five devices

yes you can share your laptop connection, I use to do it with my 360, First connect to the internet using the wifi in your laptop, go to your control panel and under network settings put the wifi connection to shared. You will need a crossover ethernet cord. you can make a crossover from a regular ethernet if you want. hook the crossover ethernet cable from the laptop to the desktop and your desktop will now use you internet connection from the laptop with wifi.

    Thanks all!
Problem is, i dont have any money.......
    Spent it all at christmas!

My desktop is pretty sweet, only problem is, i dont have a crossover cable or the tools to make one.

And for some reason the graphic's card rating is unusually low.......when i go to rate it the card's graphics and gaming grapics number has a grey/blueish box around it, which i got on my laptop a looooooonnnnggg time ago, which ending up lowering my score. Any way to fix that?
    Google yeilded no results.......
probably didnt look for exactly the right thing though......xD
