When you go to install Ubuntu, it will install GRUB, which will give you the option of which OS to boot at startup.

I have a Win XP computer with Windows home basic on a partion, and Windows home premium on another and soon to be Linux Unbuntu also. I want a partion booter that is free and stable. I've tried a few that crashed, one that worked once. Suggestions?
Keep everything how it is now, go download Ubuntu and you can run it (without installing it) to see how you like it. From there you can choose to install it, it will guide you to partition it, and will install it. Then automatically will install this GRUB loader and you will be able to choose from the 3 OS's on system startup.
if you have the lastest ubuntu, there is a partition manager when you install it, but i suggest using windows partition manager..its SUPER easy for vista..
Problem solved.... I got windows to give a a ghetto selection screen at start up. I ha modified a couple system booting files I found out that I accidentally deleted some (WTF? how?), replaced them, like magic my computer asked me
Boot From:
Microsoft Windows Vista
Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
Linux
Mac OSX Leopard
What's so ghetto?
I had to select both "Microsoft Windows Vista" or "Windows Vista" to figure out which one was home premium and which was basic. Why doesn't it say the version like XP? IDDK anyway problem solved.
