I need to know how to solve this problem cause I have a test tommorow. It's how to solve a system of not two, not three, but four linear equations. And for some reason the textbook doesn't show how to solve them. Care to help me out?

    Solve the system of equations:
    w+x+y+z=6
    3w-x+y-z=-3
    2w+2x-2y+z=4
    2w-x-y+z=-4

if you know how to solve it can you just give me a brief step by step guide on how to. Thanks

    how do you do that?

EDIT: can you just tell me how to solve it on paper I think he's gonna want to see work.

well you need to cancel out two of the same variables until its figured out

so you would have to take w+x+y+z=6 and multiply it all by -3
so that you could cancel out the 3w. 3w-x+y-z=-3 and keep doing that for all of them until no more remain but one variable then plug them all into the equation to check.

... anyways this is how you solve it on paper:

Do what dark prodigy said....you cancel out 1 variable from two of the equations, then you solve for one variable in the left over equation and plug it into the other equation, solve, and so on and so on.....

Its not too difficult, but there might be a quicker way to do it....idk, its easier to show then to explain it...reading it over again, i make it sound confusing.

Also, by the looks of it, the Phils are going down

EDIT: THIS is basically what I'm talking about....it just takes a lot longer since its 4 variables

you have to isolate variables, solve one of each of the equations for a separate variable (you will have mulitiple variables in the answers) then plug and chug
