I have this portable harddrive (same one that didn't work but I somehow got working in Windows again) but it doesn't have the same imputs as a normal harddrive. I will eventually want to swap it into an original Xbox, but it doesn't have the same ports as a normal HDD. Posting pictures as well.

If you can see, it has the normal 8-pin insert, but it has this little weird port for a little dongle that serves as the power and the data transfer

    Edit:

Here's the dongle, the red higlighted part hooks into the weird port I talked about

Here is the usb port and power

Am I going to have to take this completely out of its enclosure and pop it into a different one? How will that work?

That's an SATA hard drive, which was not "normal" when the original xbox was made. You need an IDE (ATA) hard drive or an SATA->IDE adapter. After that, you'll need the software and a computer with IDE ports to format, key, and lock your new hard drive. Not all hard drives will work, there's a huge list of tested drives out there if you google it.
If you see me running, try to keep up.

Aye. Couldn't I back up the EEPROM and transfer it via FTP, then burn it to a DVD? Thing is, is that I don't have a PC that can do that. All I have is a laptop. I know I will still need the adapter though.

    Would it look like this?

Bb you'd be better off just payin $60 for a 500gb IDE and selling that one

know what you mean, the thing is while it will probably work you're gonna have to buy a chord adapter like this SATA <==> IDE Converter Mini SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA Selectable Adapter
