whats your stand? i mean, for me, curiosity didnt kill the cat, the cat was just plain stupid that it killed itself with its stupidity, so stupid, that it even blames someone else (curiosity) for its death.

    here's another.

how is "the pen is mightier than the sword" true, if "actions speak louder than words" is also true?

PS, i know this is useless, but i wanted to see how others see things

"Curiosity killed the cat" not so much, but those two I quoted I very strongly agree with. The two can be tied together.

Adolf Hitler seized almost absolute control over Germany with aggressive propaganda campaigns. Whether the people were following his directives out of true belief or fear doesn't so much matter, that would ignore the fact that it very succesful.

In the eyes of the world stage though, the negative consequences of Hitler's orders were easy to see through any propaganda.

how do you agree with both when they are conrasts, paradoxes, slow? because, well, obviously, the pen refers to the words, and sword to the actions. those saying conradict each other

I guess it would depend entirely on how you're defining the word "action". You're assuming that the word "action" is synonymous with "sword".

To me, here's how it rolls.

The "Curiosity killed the cat" saying is just to say when your curious, or investigate something, there will be a risk. Which evidently there normally is.

For the second, writing is a action. Or speaking, or reading what was wrote with the pen. With severe "Actions", yeah, you could beat someone up, but with words, you can really screw with someones head. Plus who's to say writing, or speaking or reading isn't a "Action".

Exactly, it depends entirely on the context of the situation.

    1984 is a great book.
its about the government of the future controlling society, it was written in 1949, so at the time 1984 was the far future.
its where the term Big Brother came from, IE "Big Brother is Watching You!"

good book carpie I'm surprised you read it, and lea, the reason that show is called "big brother" is because the contestants are spied on 24/7
