I remember growing up There was the big battle between Nintendo and Sega....Nintendo was killing the Master System...then the Genesis came out...then the SNES....and TG-16.

What side were you on growing up...either by choice or force.

    August 2006 - DS homebrewed

Embrace diversity.....play both handhelds the way they weren't meant to be played!

I will stick up for SEGA simply because.

SEGA was for the time it was around, leading the advancement of gaming technology.

First gaming system to CD, not cartridge. Game Gear was a battery slayer, but it had color and a backlit screen that I believe was patented for the longest time. And, the SEGA cable gaming system..forgot what it was called..

Saturn had internet connectivity and a internal memory so you didn't need memory cards as much. Of course, the games bombed for that system, but they had some innovative technology for just about every system in terms of power, functionality, or media.

We all know Sonic was the only thing keeping SEGA up, though. I'm surprised they were so willing to save themselves to actually hand over Sonic.

Dreamcast wasn't bad for the time, either. Then PlayStation 2 happened. Bad timing..Dreamcast was so expensive. And then they suddenly slashed costs. THEN everyone bought one. Then no one cared. Then GD-ROM was cracked and the Dreamcast pirating and homebrew scene.

Seriously, think about that. Nintendo vs Genesis in terms of power..Compare each system.

Not to mention, if you knew what the Sega NOMAD was, it was awesome. Portable GENESIS for the win. And the battery wasn't so bad, either. And you could hook it up to TV, even.

Genesis was actually keeping up with the scene for a LONG time by simply improving the core system by adding add-ons. Such as the SEGA-CD slide-on and the 32X attatchment, hardware wise, one system lived a long time.

Though, subjectively, we all know Nintendo had much better games (I never liked any of them. Not Mario, or Zelda.), but it's just known that Nintendo had higher quality games though it wasn't leading the 'tech' scene at the time. It was just more fun.

I feel like SEGA killed itself somehow still.

but, losing is losing. Nintendo wins because they are now freely using the god of SEGA. Which is Sonic. What a way to add insult to injury. LOL

Get to know me, i'm pretty cool.

sega did innovate alot of things, but they failed to keep up and therefore failed. the problem with being a pioneer is you sometimes cant keep up with people who have better ideas and improve opon the original idea, which is what happened to sega
