Intel and only because I have never owned a computer with an AMD processor. So maybe I'm ignorant about it, either way I don't care. I know when a computer is being slow or fast and the Intels I've had were sufficient for what I needed of them at the time.

the only thing i know is that intel always has the best highest-end model, or "the shit", if you may. otherwise, i'd just let the benchmarks posted online do the talking.

That's not true. AMDs are usually faster in terms of pricing. If money is not an issue, then I guess you can say go for the highest-end Intel which is a specific version of the i7 right now. Generally it flipflops. I've had an Intel back in my first desktop, which had a PII @ 200 MHz (Windows 2000) and then upgraded to a PIII @ 300 MHz. After that AMD Athlon 3000+ and now an AMD Phenom II X4 Quad @ 3.0 GHz. Intel doesn't make true dual/quad core chips, meaning they basically take two processors and put them on one chip, whereas AMD does true multi-core chips. My laptop's has a Core i5 and that's pretty powerful as well. Honestly, I'd pick AMD over Intel because of cost effectiveness, but it's a matter of personal preference really.

    AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz | 4GB A-Data DDR2 RAM | Sparkle Nvidia GeForce 9400GT 512MB
    Intel Core i5 M430 2.27GHz | 4GB DDR3 RAM | Intel GMA HD

for the price they are great and they also give more boost.

example an amd 2 gig is like saying an intel 2.5 gig or 3 gig.they overclock the amds to perform for gaming and stuff.thats what amds are, true gaming processors.intels just too commercialized and pricey imho

I don't really see the difference. I've used both. Currently AMD though because the dual core was cheaper.
