(be warned that the link may contain some strong profanity in some of the sections)

What the hell?! Some seem quite fake, but not all.... and this one really got my attention.... (I didn't read them all though)

    <div class='quotetop'></div><div class='quotemain'>Pale Faces and Sharp Teeth

Many classic horror icons, such as Geiger&#039;s Xenomorphs, Silent Hill&#039;s Pyramid Head, and other disturbing creatures, share common characteristics. Pale skin, dark, sunken eyes, elongated faces, sharp teeth, and the like. These images inspire horror and revulsion in many, and with good reason. The characteristics shared by these faces are imprinted in the human mind. Many things frighten humans instinctively. The fear is natural, and does not need to be reinforced in order to terrify. The fears are species-wide, stemming from dark times in the past when lightning could mean the burning of your tree home, thunder could be the approaching gallops of a stampede, predators could hide in darkness, and heights could make poor footing lethal. The question you have to ask yourself is this: What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?

... Just be careful out there.</div>
Is it possible that something in the distant past of the human race is the cause of such fears? Or is this just a result of our though processes saying different equals bad/scary?

Edit: Well, I just looked at another one, and this one REALLY interests me....

    <div class='quotetop'></div><div class='quotemain'>Small Meteorite

In 1990, a small meteorite was sighted in the night sky by the Hubble telescope. It appeared to be on a collision course with earth, but calculations showed that it was far too small and moving far too slowly to be a threat to our home planet.

In 1997, the long-forgotten meteorite entered the atmosphere. It did not burn away, as scientists predicted; it barely even grew warm. Even so, it landed without drawing much attention on the outskirts of a village in the middle of Africa, on the edge of the Sahara.

Three months later, a safari expedition vanished while en route through the jungle. They never reached their checkpoint, within walking distance from the desert.

A research team in 1998 happened on the impact crater of the meteorite by chance. They detected high levels of radiation in the crater, though they could not identify what element had caused it. They drove to the nearby village to warn the locals of the danger, but the settlement was completely empty. Not a soul nor a body could be found for miles around. The only evidence of life left, current or past, were the long-abandoned grass huts, and a great number of footprints leading into the sands of the Sahara. None of the footprints could be matched against any living creature on record.</div>
Anyone heard about it before? Want to look it up and post what you find?

I&#039;m not sure if any of these should be taken as anything more than urban legend, some may be based in fact, however I do always enjoy reading them. Not sure if I&#039;ve ever seen this collection or if it has this one, but my favorite is the story about the lighthouse where you can seal yourself inside with all the world&#039;s evil to bring peace to the outside. The only conditions are that you can not leave while the evil is sealed in, so if you chose to bring peace to the world you&#039;d be sealed inside with all of the worst things imaginable.

Yep, they&#039;re definitely interesting, even though they seem fake.

As for the first one, it&#039;s all up to your imagination, I guess. For the second one.... I can&#039;t find anything about a missing settlement near a meteorite crater in Africa. It could be that it was all true up until that part.
