    Are there any around at these forums? Tell us your story!

    As for me, I have been using Linux actively since 03/2007. Been on numerous Linux forums and stuff. Started off with Ubuntu. Then wanted a rolling release, bleeding edge distro so I switched to Arch. Lately, in the last few months I have been using Antix, a distro based on Mepis which is based on Debian in turn. I played around with the sources and converted it to an extremely easy-to-install, ultra-lightweight, bleeding-edge, rolling release distro based on Debian Sid/Experimental. Very happy with it!

    Please no bashing of other Operating Systems or bashing of Linux here!

    @faustnero:
    Well I am not that much into networking and networking security. I am a CSE student though, hope I survive

    @Josh443:
    I don't consider that a distro. It is pretty much Ubuntu with some extra packages.

    yep, distro is pretty much a rip off what other linux kernel's best has offered. BT is actually the underground-ish, black market software of what most linux user is boasting/showing off.

    Tried Ubuntu, got confused trying to install software and configure shit, got overwhelmed trying to learn some shit, back to windows. But I keep an Ubuntu disk around because it has saved my ass more than once

    ewww keeping BT installed permanently. Seriously though the tool is built to be portable, and hide certain aspects of user identities, to actually install it kinda go circles around the principle.

    If you get confused using Ubuntu, obviously the most user-friendly distro, probably Linux is not for you.

    I'm by no means a linux pro, but I've been spreading the Linix Mint curse all over my friends and families, extending the lives of their slightly older PC's and jalappys.
    I've dumped Ubuntu a few years back after 6, and have dabbled a bit with AntiX and Mint mostly. I have a 4 year old Acer laptop dual core with a gig of ram that runs Linux Mint like a champ. Never looking back to Windows again. i am forced to use it at work and hate it. Linux is easier the more you get used to it. I have found free office programs, free (great) games, film editing software, Compilers, browsers, and millions of applications that work, most times, better than any 'official' winders programs.

    On a side note, my 12 year old son is getting his 1st ever Laptop for Xmas. I plan on putting Commodore 64 Vision OS (Linux) on it and deco'n it out with C64 stickers and whatnot.

    I should post pics when it's all done.

    Nice to see another person sharing the same interest

    Commodore OS seems like it could be entertaining. But I am not sure if I can trust such a new distro like that. I have to gather more info about it first. Like try it in a VM. I will tell you how it goes.

    I used Ubuntu for a few years during a phase where all I played was EVE. But then I got back into games in general and switched back to XP.

    There're still a lot of things I miss about Linux. Little things like wallpapers stretching across all my screens, being able to hide the taskbar completely and so on, but "hurrr durrr it just works" outweighs all of it when have a lot of games and applications installed.

    I still have a Windows in a multi-boot system, which means I can just boot back into Windows 7 if I want to play a Windows-only game. Other than that I still use Linux.
