i thought to myself WTF? starcraft is an old game, so it doesnt need much to make it run fine, but yet my computer lagged while playing online

my computer ran fast, i always kepted it clean, my net was fast, i have a dsl connection, so i wanted to know why it lagged, i noticed there was a performance icon thing in my control panel so i clicked on it

and this is what it tolded me

MY computer scored a 1 in gaming graphics, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everything else seem to be running fine

IM a noob when it comes to computer hardware, so i was woundering if anyone knew how to fix this?

or maybe recommend and kind of graphic card or something like that? if that is what i need, then can someone tell me or show me tips for what kind of specs i need to look for when im shopping for one?

or do i need a video card or something? (i have no clue what im talking about)

well, vista would be your first clue. From my experiences gaming on vista is total garbage.

But that may be the reason. First, how much ram do you have and what speed and type is your processor? How did you lag, was it just a bad room or maybe your connection is crapping out on you.

I played rome total war on vista fine, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. I would say that if it plays fine single player, but is fuxored online, then it's obvious your net connection is shit.

yah must be your connection being shit. No way of fixing that other than calling up your provider and telling them you need more speed. If you know where you live and some basic information about your internet you will be fine and can do it yourself. Just do it someday that your parents aren't home and they won't even see the difference on the bill. It will be like another $10 a month maybe, if that.

yeah, gaming takes up a hell of a lot more bandwidth than browsing. exactly what type of internet service to you have? dial-up? dsl? cable? satellite? satellite is total dogshit for gaming, in gaming, the upload speed is what matters, slow upload=lag (satellite has fast downloads, but shitty uploads). also, check your ping if you can, that would help quite a bit in diagnosing the problem. I don't have sc in front of me atm, so I can't tell you specifically how, but you should be able to figure it out.

Bandwidth and Graphics play a big part, I just looked at your video card type :

Graphics Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 GM

That is crap, you need a real video card.
That shares the memory with your system and you already have limited memory, only 512Meg.

If you can afford it get a new video card and more mem, at least a gig in your system.

Also goto http://www.dslreports.com/ and goto tools, run a speed test, it will show downstream/upstream speeds, both are important for an enjoyable online game play.

Gaming does take a lot more speed and maybe your game required open GL or something like that. I would look into that.
