What do I need to make my PC actually good?
It's so bad, it lags while playing counterstrike 1.6, even runescape
Any help would be apreciated. I just need some pointers on what I need to upgrade to make it decent.
    thanks

umm update your whole system, lol. Get a gig of ram and a new processor along with a half decent vid card. But your mobo might be too old, so you may want to look into getting a cheap newer pc and upgrading that.

For now, more RAM and a better video card. I have an All-In-Wonder, and it plays any game I've ever thrown at it easily. From Half Life to Rainbow 6 Lockdown. Paid $200 for my 256MB AIW and wouldn't trade it for the world.

On top of adding to your system, you can also take things away. Make sure you have only the most important things starting up on your start-up. Example: Anti-Virus, of course, Firewall? A must. Quicktime? Real Player? Your mother? No. Also when you're about to play games, close whatever it was you had open before hand. All instant messaging programs, Winamp, whatever the case may be.

Aside from all that, you should seriously consider a new computer. Christmas is coming, all you have to do is ask. If your family can't afford to buy you a new computer, which is pretty understandable, ask for money. Have a job? Save money. It would be well worth your while...

dood, just go buy another computer. you can get a new dell better than that for like $200. Don't waste your money trying to upgrade that thing.

    new 1.5 psp for xmas
And yea, I only like the older games to be honest. I am happy with my 512 RAM, it'd worked perfect on my laptop and other machines. Tbh, I got this pc for Ã ¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£14 0 with a 19" monitor, so I'm not too bothered what happens to it. However, I thought the processer was the worst part, am I wrong? Should that be altered or should I just concentrate on a graphics card?

edit: for the guy above, where the hell can you get brand new dells for this $200, cos for me that's Ã ¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£11 0, and i find that pretty hard to believe. gimme links

in order to get a better processor, you'll have to get a new mobo, which means you'll prolly have to get new ram to fit the new mobo, trust me, you'd be much better off getting a new computer.

    EDIT: my bad, $279 http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...=DDDWTA1&s=dhs

celerons aren't all that bad, my lappy has a 1.6 celeron m, and it's able to run vista smoothly, even play a few rts's like warcraft and rome total war.
