Official PSPmod Literature thread
Hey guys (and girls) I was talking to chris over in another thread about a book and that's when I realized that I had never really seen a thread about books on this site. So I just wanted to open up a discussion on books. Feel free to mention any books you are reading right now or ones you have read etc. I hope there are at least a few people on this site who enjoy reading. Roght now I just started the first in the Charlie Bone series. I gave this book a try years ago and decided to again for a lack of nothing else to read. Also shortly after starting that book I borrowed the Bourne identity from a friend and will start that shortly. What are you reading?

OMG U ACTUALLY MADE ONE.
well sum books I recommend are the Harry Potter books. I jsut started the last one and its great!
And try the Cirque Du Freak series. Its about a vampire, but the vampire theme is totally different in this book!
THe Outsiders is a classic novel about a separated of the rich and the poor, both scuffling for the toughest seat in the city.
Of Mice and Men is a great book about two friends who work on a ranch with dreams of owning their own land.
The Lightning Thief is a great book about the Greek Gods. Sumone steals Zeus' lightning bolt and now theyre tracking it down.
All these books i just said are books I recommend reading.

I have read the entire Harry Potter series and I think that 1, 2, 3, and 7 were the only really interesting ones. Of Mice and Men is a must read as is The Outsiders. Eragon as well as Eldest were excellent. Im a really picky reader so I dont get a whole lot of literature but I do re-read most of my books. The one piece of literature that I do recommend is every single video game instruction booklet that you get. They are interesting and sometimes they can be a valuable source of info or tips that many people will never see. Most of my friends dont read the instruction books and I do and then I blow them away.
Edit: I recommend that you read Julie's story! Like I said I am picky and I liked it. (No I'm not sucking up dont even say it!)

lol I knew someone would post that so I headed them off. Seriously I did like her story. Oh and two more recommendations Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass: And What Alice Found There. You have to appreciate Lewis Carrol's classics! Anyone have any books (prefferably mature books, not that kiddy shit [like A Series Of Unfortunate Events, they are ok but not dark and twisted enough for me.]) where everyone dies? I mean NO happy endings, im sick of the same old same old happy ending B.S.

its about a future where people are stripped of all their individuality and their goverment controls everything, including technology and free thought
first paragraph from the wikipedia entry:
Anthem is a dystopic science fiction story taking place at some unspecified future date. Mankind has entered another dark age as a result of what Rand saw as the evils of irrationality and collectivism, and the weaknesses of socialistic thinking and economics. Technological advancement is now carefully planned (when it is allowed to occur at all) and the concept of individuality has been eliminated (for example, the word "I" has disappeared from the language). As is common in her work, Rand draws a clear distinction between the "socialist/communal" values of equality and brotherhood and the "productive/capitalist" values of achievement and individuality. The story also parallels Stalinist Russia, which was in existence at the time the story was published.

Awesome idea for a thread!
I'm currently reading The Chaneysville Incident, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
I'm about 5/6th's of the way through The Chaneysville Incident, so, the most I can say really, is that it's not bad, but it's really annoying to read. The author puts a lot of emphasis on the history aspect of the story, and too little on the novel portion. It's truly like reading a 11th grade history book.
Other books I love: Battle Royale - An amazing horror novel about the Japanese government. Quickly, every year, Japan selects an entire class of students (like class of '08, not like Mrs.Jone's class) to participate in an experiment. The government takes the kids, and puts them on a deserted island, and attaches collars to them, equipped with bombs and a GPS device. They tell the students that they have 72 hours to kill each other, and leave only one alive. If more than one person is alive at the end, they all die. If someone chooses to leave the island, he blows up. The students are then supplied with a weapon, ranging anywhere from a fork, to a MAC-10 and told to get to it. The horror factor is great, but the mental effect of having to kill your best friends and classmates takes it to the next level. Awesome book. South of the Pumphouse The Catcher in the Rye The Long, Hard Road Out of Hell - Marilyn Manson's book. A Clockwork Orange
That's all I can think of right now...
