And no, according to site rules (i think) torrents are allowed on this site. As long as you arent giving someone a direct link to a torrent.
Demonoid is a site that has torrents but some of which are freeware programs also, im sure.

Uh yeah, I was able to download some .torrent files from there without an invite.

And technically tehpratbay.org (yeah mispelled url on pprpush) and isoXHnt.com (again mispelled) are .torrent file sites too. Aren't all the sites out there? I don't know of ANY sites that host actual pirated software directly (anymore) outside of the ftp sites that come and go.

So what are the rules eggs-zactly?

If it's OK with the board, I mean I can list half a dozen great PSP Torrent File sites easily, these sites do not have direct dl'ing of anything, just the little 10-50kb torrent files.

So what's the dealio?

If this is legit for PSPMod, then why not have a dedicated thread for all the noobs who come knocking for iso files? The roadmap is not the same as the destination and it's for people who can't backup their own games because of intelligence issues and/or damaged UMD original right?

No, there are torrent sites, and warez sites, that link to software using trials, and links to cracks using rapidshare etc, also using FTP's and 1 link hosting sites like flyupload.

Because techincally even if you don't host on the server, and even though it's techincally not illegal to link to software, some hosts don't allow it. So pspmod's host probably doesn't allow it.

Call it whatever you want, but 99% of the people who would use these links are trying to pirate games. Plain and Simple. You start linking to torrent sites where kids can d/l all kinds of illegal crap, and I guarantee one day you'll try to check your new posts, and PSPMOD won't be here. For those "noobs looking for iso's" They can go f**k themselves for all I care, why are we trying to make things easier for them exactly?

Not trying to make anything easier for anybody - And I agree with your statement above. However, I was asked not to and told it was against forum rules when someone comes in to chat, asks where they can get torrents and I answer with 2 urls that provide links to download torrents (the small <1mb files). With that file they link P2P via a bittorrent client. So technically I didn't break any forum rules. But someone took the time to tell me not to do that again.

I didn't make a stink about it because I respect PSPMod just for being here - no one really knows me here but I've been coming as a guest for a long time. Why? Because I know how to search for what I need and not post in the hopes to get an answer (sometimes I don't search good enough or miss it right under my nose, that's when I ask). So I in particular am very grateful for PSPMod, I know piracy implications and would never want anything to happen to this place. I figured it was time to register and take part once I felt confident enough I knew enough to help someone else.

The way I return the favor is by referals and staying live in chat to help the first round noobs. *shrug* I feel it's the least I can do with everything I've learned myself here.

So, when I log in and see senior members not just posting links to an obvious torrent site but one that (upon visiting) is obviously providing torrents to illegal downloads, it certainly begs the question WTF?

Sure, if a pimple faced jerk off mid-puberty teeny bopper comes along asking where he can get the latest iso of Crisis Core, it's easy to say (*&^*(&^- off

I guess I'm more concerned with the mixed signals - make a policy and hammer it down, enforce it or turn a blind eye, the mish mash is confusing and makes otherwise well meaning people look foolish.

Do I really care this much? Maybe not or maybe just a little.

All I'm asking for is black or white, not shades of grey, not on this topic.

I definitely agree!! I hate the fact that rules are rules, yet they are not always followed or enforced.ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THIS SUBJECT. I think this board should've been deleted, not closed, DELETED the minute a moderator logged in.
* No discussing piracy. do not link people to torrent downloads or discuss where do get pirated movies, software, or games
* Dont ask about illegal content. same as above. this includes .iso files and rom files

Sounds like someone broke a rule, yet the thread has been up for over 36 hours. If this was a NEW member I'm sure they would've been banned by now. Or at least the thread would be closed and a warning would've been issued.
