Last I heard, MGS4 and GTA4 will NOT be PS3 exclusives. They will be coming out on both consoles at the same time, and GTA4 will also have a PC release.

GTA was announced for both ps3 and 360. MGS4 has not been officially anounced for any system except the ps3. Sony pictures has a license to produce a Metal Gear Solid movie, so that might hold some sway on going multi-platform. Obviously the intellectual property rights for the game are owned by Konami so its their choice to go multi-platform or not. At this time there is not an announcement that it is headed to the 360 so its premature to say it is coming to both platforms and very premature to say its a simultaneous release.

There have been rumors following MGS4's 'exclusivity' for many many many months. Then again, the rumors have always been shut down by Konami. Personally, I believe that Kojima is the only one preventing Konami from developing MGS4 for the 360.

bleh. lets all stop arguing about mgs4 lol. any info at this point is either speculation or just a rumor, nobody can back up that its positively going to the 360, and i hope to god it isnt. i like the idea of exclusives and i like the market being split. xbox has really been pissing me off lately trying to buy out all the exclusives. one of my friends told me (maybe a rumor i dont know) that microsoft forked out cash so that bioshock wouldnt come to the ps3. microsoft needs to get the hell outta the gaming industry, cuz they'll be the downfall of it in my opinion. i'm still waiting to buy a ps3, even tho they announced they arent making anymore 60gig versions i'm gonna buy one cuz i want the backwards compatability and 60gigs is plenty for me, not to mention the cost. everyone is freaking out that sony is screwing themselves over by discontinuing their ps3 60gig version but sony also said that the recent price cut wont be the only price cut. i've got a feeling that once the 60gigs sell out they might do yet another price cut, atleast that would help them in the long run. and as far as console specs go you could never convince me to buy an xbox 360 over a ps3. good games will come in time, just be patient. the ps2 had kind of a slow launch as far as games go and its the best selling console ever pretty much.

ok guys i know... GTA4 and MGS4 will be great games but in question in the reality of the movements i think that is the problem of ps3. ps2 xbox´s and nintendo´s consoles.
The graphics are the best in the third generation but the reality of movements.....isn´t so good....dont you all think....

i think MGS4 will go multi platform. i hear its the last one so Konami wants to make as much money as possible so multi platform is obviously the way to go.

Well, if they want to make as much money as possible then they would have released all of the MGS titles multi-platform, but they didn't. I have speculated that some developers (as in individuals) create certain relationships with other companies. One of which I believe occurs between Kojima and Sony. The MGS franchise started on a Sony console, and perhaps Kojima wants to pay his respects to the company that made him a God in the gaming world by releasing his final game (he said this was his final game at E3) on Sony's latest console. Now, this is all speculation, but I believe that while Kojima is on Konami's payroll, MGS4 will not be released on the 360. I could be completely wrong, but that is my main suspicion.

The thing is, the words in italics (inadvertently or not) make it sound like Kojima has only worked on games for Sony systems, which isn't true. The boktai series on the GBA (and DS, but it was called Lunar Knights) were directed by Kojima.

Not to say that he doesn't have that kind of relationship with Sony, or that he will put MGS4 on multiple platforms, but I just wanted to clarify your statement a little bit.

its irrelevant whether he's done those titles on different platforms because he was referring to the franchize of MGS not all games made by kojima. every MGS game, excluding the original nes one, has been on a sony platform and kojima might wanna keep loyal, i think thats what he was pointing out.

they released a few "special editions" on the game cube and xbox. the gamecube received a game called "twin snakes" and the the xbox recieved a "substance" version of MGS2. so far MGS2 was the only title to go multiplatform... which is weird since it was the worst one in the series

I've read that in the 60gb version its hardware which allows backward compatibility, in the new 80GB edition that will come out its just software base.

"The current 60 GB model utilizes a hardware and solution for backwards compatibility, namely the Emotion Engine chip," said SCEA's Kimberly Otzman. "The new 80 GB PS3 will use a software solution for backwards compatibility, similar to that currently found in the PAL model."


To the guy complaining about sonys lineup of games at its current stage, compare it to all the other consoles at this stage of its life cycle, their line ups weren't all that.
