im hoping they continue the Jak series. i loved those games aslo. Sly Cooper needs a sequal too. that cell shaded art style would look fantastic on the ps3

I don't think I could play for 12+ hours with that thing...

I think it would look badass enough that i wouldnt mind how uncomfortable it was.
@Julie
I thought the Jak series went downhill fast after the first game. Jak 3 was good, but it didnt have the charm that 1 did. Its still a great game, but it could/should have been better.

oh, and rachet and clank: tools of destruction is another game worth checking out | Before August, I had no reason for buying the PS3 other than the prospect of FF13 (and maybe a FF7 remake).
The PS3 camp is looking awfully appealing right now.....maybe next spring I'll buy it (after I get new MP3 player/and I build up vinyl collection).

If anyone is interested in buying a PS3, you should buy one soon. The 20/60gig's are being discontinued, and the 80gig is the only one left (besides the 40gig) but the 40gig does not have PS2 support
I picked up a 80 gig w/ motorstorm, for $500, the 60gig is $500, so it's a good deal, and it has PS1/PS2 support unlike the 40gig, they did have 5 left, but when Christmas shopping comes.. Don't except to find one.

if you dont install linux, do you really need 80gigs? 360's small 20 gig which is really like 15 inst that bad with demos and videos.

The 60GIG ps3 has better backwards support since it uses hardware emulation, instead of software emulation (80gig).
But I don't have any PS1/PS2 games besides the GTA's which have no problems.. So I don't have to worry.

i dont know about the ps2 support but with the 20 gig you also get less usb ports. and youre gonna have a hdd constantly plugged in one of them. and then if you get linux you need mouse and keyboard.
40 gig dosent have ps2 support so i dont think 20 gig does. full comparison PlayStation.com

i wont be running linux on my ps3, theres really no point when i have it running on my pc. I'd only really use the usb port for transferring stuff to the internal hdd. The 40gb model is the new one though, right? I thought the original line all supported ps2 titles and the new 40gb doesnt. Thanks for the spec sheet but do you know if theres one for the original models? basically i dont know what im doing, all i know is im going to kill myself if i never play R&C on ps3.

Linux is really cool to have on the PS3, (even though I dont have it). Linux is like an operating system like Windows Vista, the PS3 has "The Cell" processor, (the fastest processor out), so when you get linux you basicly have a super computer, and then all you need is a terabyte HDD. And your HDTV is your monitor...

I'm not sure about the 20gig having PS2 support as when you search on sony's site for backwards compatibility it only lists the 60/80 gig..
The 60gig is $499.99 and so is the 80gig w/ motorstorm.

Most crt monitors support hd resolution anyway, i can crank mine up to 1600x1200 which is higher than full hd res. The cell processor doesnt really help out when running linux since most of the programs arent written to take advantage of all 6 cores.
So if i want the cheapest backward compatible ps3, the 60gb is it? You said the 60gb is $499 and the 80 is the same plus a game, but that doesnt really make sense, did i get that right?
