It would be nice if sony let us have an SDK for the ps3 to open it up a bit.Let us write some homebrew, its not like people are going to be burning blu-ray discs any time soon, and even then im sure sony can lock it down if they want to bad enough.

just lol.
Besides the ram part, the specs 'almost' rivaled the 360? Are you joking?
360 has what, dual-core 3.2ghz? ps3 has 6 (8, but 1 isn't used, & 1 is used for the ps3 itself) spe's at 3.4ghz. 4 to emulate it, 2 to run it. Same ram, just dedicated differently, and graphics. IF IT COULD BE CODED, it definitely could emulate the 360.
If they could code it to use 3 spe's instead of 4, the other SPE could help for ram and graphics and AA. Quote:

XDR has a clock speed of 3.2 ghz. The 360's ddr ram has a clock of 800mhz or something. Plus, the ps3's hdd can be used as swap, it will be slow, but it will get the job done in conjunction with the xdr ram.
I dont think it will happen for a long, long time. Professional dev''s are just getting used to the cell (and doing some impressive things) so i dont think independent coders will try to take it on. I would love to see a proof of concept, but the original xbox emulator is still really crappy.
Anyway...
Possible: Yes
Probable: No

Seeing as how PCSX2 still isn't done nearly 8 years after the launch of the PS2, I doubt we'll see a working PS3 emulator before 2015. |

i doubt we see one at all...just imagine how much you need to get...even the newer computers that are around $2000-2500 cant compete with it, many people said that their computer is better (and graphics) but in reality it is not, maybe the graphics part, but try converting a blu-ray disc into a PC-ROM disc (oops you cant), like i said before, just give up and be happy with the ps3... |

Oh and there's nothing preventing people from ripping BD-ROMs even today. |

There will be a PS3 emulator, if it's not already been conceded by someone. PC systems can be up to par to the emulation of a PS3, but it's not something a $500 gateway can achieve. |
