PS3 corrupted?

Something went down with my PS3. When I boot it up an error message pops up and saids the hard drive is corrupted and it will reformat.... or something like that. So, then it does one of those long downloading things as if I were upgrading. Once thats done the PS3 powers off automatically then when it come back on, same error comes up and the process reapeats itself.

Anyone know how to fix this?

try unplugging and plugging back the AC adaptor
remove any discs from your ps3

and if all else fails return it to sony

try removing HDD & turn it on- If it still does it your gonna have to send it back to Sony but if it powers on just fine after you remove HDD then your HDD is bad

yea it still powers up with the hdd out.... so my hdd is corrupted, perfect! Is there a warranty or something on it cuz I really dont want to buy another one

Yep, there's a warranty of two years...unless you bought it from ebay or something like that.

PS3 only has a 1 year warranty wtf...and we called them up and tried following there steps, one was which to take out the hdd and do the reformat thing.. it just stayed at 0%, called them back and they said we'll need to ship it to them for a fee or 150$ so no way I was going to do that so I hung up and put the hdd in and some message pops up and I clicked X and it went to the home menu now it works.. hahahaha

or do what i did..i got a ps3 off ebay..and it stopped working..i traded it in (with three old games the came to $67 store-credit) and my psp which was $90 plus another $10 for my memstick which was $10..and i got an extra 10% with my edge card, and another 20% for trading in two or more ps3 games, and another 10% for trading in hardware..and i got $389 in store credit...so i got a fresh ps3 for $11.01

lol, you just got me looking for a broke ps3 on ebay.

i only did it because i only had like 350 and i really wanted a ps3 ( i went MONTHS without one) so i got it off ebay..it stopped working in two months..called sony they said for $150 i can get a new one..i said f*ck that..so i thought about it...and just went to gamestop...i just wanted a ps3 for one reason: GTAIV...i traded it in on 04/21 got $389 on my card..came back on 04/23 to pay the them $11.01....and again back on midnight of 04/29 and got GTAIV...it worked...and it was worth it..even thought i lost my psp..GTA4 is worth it
