1 - this is WHY i hate the 360
So I was updating my hacked firmware, and I've had this problem for awhile where the game would become distorted, messed up colors etc, very pixilated. I called xbox, and my warranty is up, so I'd have to pay $100 to fix it. Whatever fuck that. So anyway, I took out my dvd drive to clean and I noticed this: 
The xbox gets SO hot that the heatsink LITERALLY is grilling my dvd drive, which inturn is heating up the game / lens and producing a distorted image!
I <3 xbox.
Oh, p.s., for 360 fanboys, this is not dirt as I tried to wipe it off, do not tell me I made this up, and the blue part is from my camera phone, it's a reflection of light, I had it on solari photo effect. If you want another picture, I'll be glad, lazy atm though, flashing it to 8x.

OH SNAP!!!
yeah i gonna get a PS3... screw the 360...
you try ,well its to late now, but i heard if you wrap a towl around the console is would stop the red ring of death for a lil bit of time.... was it up right or on it's side? i've also heard that when people play the consoles up right that something like this happens...or it damages the disc...

sorry for your loss... | It's not broken, nor a RRoD.
Just that I found out why, my 360 is having graphical problems, it's because of this.
Nah I wont do a towel trick, that stuff is stupid lol. | |

jesus christ! thats a health hazard! it reminds me of the pinto, the car that exploded when rammed into hard enough because the production of a rubber filter wasnt put in between the gas tank and the exhaust wasnt done. i dont know the entire story.

my friend got GTA4 on the xbox, and he played it for two hours, he says it go SO hot that it literally rendered stuff late in the game, like Niko was suppose to be seatin on a couch, but it was air...then he caught RRoD...i have a launch ps3, and no problems...and its still cool...really trade it in, he did | |

My 360 is fucking up atm as well... %90 of the time my drive doesnt even detect a game/DVD inserted into it, %5 of the time it detects the game as an unreadable DVD, %3 it detects the game as a 360 game but for some reason says that in oeder to play the game I have to put it in an Xbox 360, and %2of the time it reads my game as it should... really fun rebooting the Xbox and ejecting and re-inserting the game for 15 minutes straight before I get to play it.

You need to solder to one of the chip leads which doesn't stick too well to solder so I would recommend lightly soldering then hotgluing.
