Rock Band or GH3?

I've been searching google for a week straight on this topic, most are saying to to Guitar Hero 3, but then I saw some posts say screw both of them, get guitar hero 2 since it has way better songs. Now the thing I don't like about Guitar hero is that the guitar makes that annoying ticking noise whenever you strum, but then the Rock Band guitar isn't compatible with Guitar Hero (is it?). I borrowed my friend's rock band and my other friend's guitar hero 3, and I've been moving towards rock band, mainly cause guitar hero songs are pretty bad. So this is what I have been thinking: Just get the Guitar Hero 3 bundle, then just buy a used Guitar hero 2, and maybe a used Rock band. What do you guys think?

IMO guitar hero 3 was one of the biggest upsets i have lived through. Guitar Hero 2 has way better songs that are more fun to play, it seems like every song on guitar hero 2 has a solo which is fun. Guitar Hero 3 has some good songs, but not all are great. As for rockband, i havent played it, but i have really wanted to try it. So yeah IMO, if you are gonna get a guitar hero get Guitar Hero 2 its way better.

If you are leaning more towards Rock band, then just wait for Guitar Hero World Tour to come out... Right now I am having more fun with Rock band nowadays than I am with Guitar Hero because of the huge amount of songs that are available for the title, but supposedly the hardware coming with Guitar Hero World Tour is going to be superior to Rock Bands, which always seems to have problems. My friend has had to replace his Rock Band guitar, his microphone, and his drum pedal once already.

Well actually I'm not looking for a whole bundle, just the guitar set. Singing and drums aren't my thing

. Rock Band's songs are amazing, I just love highway star, green grass and high tides, and how could I forget ballroom blitz? So actually, if I just buy a used GH2 and a new guitar hero controller, that would add up to 95 dollars, 5 bucks cheaper than the GH3 set, then buy a rock band and so forth.

Either that or I'm just gonna buy a racing wheel with burnout paradise

No, the hardware doesnt work with both games. GH wanted to talk to Rock Band about making the guitars work with RB, but RB didnt want that because they wanted people to have to buy RB's guitars.

I say guitar hero is better cause the rockband guitar sucks and for the voice you just have to hum it....

rockband is the gayest game ive ever bought. GH3 is definetly the way to go, i like it more than GH2.

Gh2 (i think, might have been gh1) pissed me off with the song by wolfmother. There was a ton of notes added that arent in the actual song and whoever they had doing the vox was terrible and sucked. I stopped playing that game right then. GH3 is alright though. Im of a big fan of the "band sim" games, i'd rather play a real guitar/drum kit/bass.

GH1 was good, but then they got full of themselves, with GH2/3/rocking 80's.

I prefer rockband over it now.

What are you talking about? RB supports GH controllers, GH3 does not support RB guitar, so it would definitely be vise versa.

Pardon me, i was mistaken. It seems the 360 guitars seem to be cross-compatible, but the ps3 ones arent. I didnt know that seeing as i dont own a 360 (nor do i plan on it).

I don't own it for the 360 either, however I've just seen my friends use their GH controllers playing it because they seem to like it better. Thought it would be the same on the PS3 (I have it on the PS3, just that I don't own GH3 so I did not know if both were).
