Old Question about Used 360's, and the 360 in general. 07-22-2008, 03:54 AM   #1 (permalink)

Default Question about Used 360's, and the 360 in general.

One of my friends got a used Xbox 360 today from Gamestop. He said he was told that there is only a 30 day warranty and NO microsoft warranty, is this true?

And two:
It's not good to leave your 360 on the carpet in a upright position in a very humid area, right?

I know nothing about the 360, I have a PS3, so that's why I'm asking.

Thanks!

Default Question about Used 360's, and the 360 in general.

if its under 3 years old from production date on the back of the 360, then it should have a microsoft warranty up to 3 years, he will need to call ms a register the console in his name , that way if there is a hardware problem it will be repaired free by ms as long as its not older than 3 years, I bought a premium 360 off ebay for $120 and it had the red ring off death I registered with microsoft and they fixed it and shipped it all for free, just make sure the microsoft seal is still intact behind the faceplate of the machine, its a silver sticker that says microsoft, if the seal is broken then the warranty is voided

Put it in a "dry, cool place". Keep it sideways.

I have it on an metal barred shelf, so all of the fans are able to work easily

Don't keep it vertical, and don't move it while playing

Never put it on the carpet, my friend's 360 overheated and died on him. My 360 is in an upright position, never had a problem with it... yet.

Well, I warned him...and his solution was to a towel under it. Their house is air condtioned, but he is on the second floor.

I warned him. Not my fault, and I told him I want to videotape the RROD. I can't wait!

pffff upright position, sideways, upside down, hanging from a balcony, or inside a freezer thats inside of a bigger freezer, it doesn't matter

the 360 will still find a way to overheat.lol
