Default Ps3 Og Hdd?

Hey, has anyone done "anything" with their OG HDD that came with the system, after upgrading to a bigger drive? I wanted to use mine via USB, but the PS3 doesn't want to recognize it, wonder if anyone has gotten same or actually got the system to read the original drive?

I'm using a Thermaltake BlacX SATA docking station, in order to TRY to make this work, and it's not. My PCs can "see" the drive, though not access it. (ie: I can "format" the drive, but not read from it.)

Any ideas, other than just keep the drive around in case the main unit needs repairs. (I plan on this, as it is, but thought it would be cool to run it USB, if possible. No need to format a good drive with good data on it.)

Instead of formatting the partition that is on the drive you may need to delete all partitions and create a new one.

I would boot with ubuntu (or gparted), and use one of their partitioning tools because I've screwed up many partitions to the point where vista (windows as a whole) would not read it, the only thing that did was ubuntu.

Thanks, guys! So, I take it noone has done anything with their OG HDDs? I had, originally, tried SwissKnife, but it kept giving me Windows Error msgs... I had finally got my Vista PC to run a FAT32 format, only to have it tell me at the end of the session, that the HDD was too big for FAT32... Go figure.

At this point, I'm just going to let the OG one sit and collect dust, and hope I never have to reinstall it. No point in formatting a good drive, as I said above, so...
