Roms/Emus are not illegal if you own the original cart/disk. Gens/SNES game are so cheap you might as well buy them then download them for emu on the go. It was unintentional to open up emus on the ps3. Linux is not a ps3 hack, its a option called secondOS which you can install linux/unix/freebsd or really any open-source software. don't post things up when you don't know what your are talking about, you look incompetent.
I see we misunderstood what i said. What i meant was if you can run linux on the ps3, and since it is open source so you can do whatever with it. Does that mean somebody could find a security flaw or something in the ps3 that allowed you to install Linux that modifies the firmware and have it consider a hack? I didn't know you could do stuff like that on the ps3

What? I don't think Linux can change the PS3's firmware. And theres really no point in changing it anyways. In linux you can pretty much do anything. I used to be able to run all the emulators i wanted. Well, nothing higher then PS1. But it was still pretty damn cool. And it had other tools and features and you can keep adding more and more which is pretty damn cool too.

...Then my hardrive got corrupted...yay.

Just replace it lol. When you run Linux on a PS3, you're locked out of a lot of the hardware that games normally use, such as the GPU. Any rendering you do is done by the processor (which is really no problem since you have 8 cores). I doubt you'll have access to the firmware, and Linux has its own kernel so you won't have access to the one the system uses normally. Sony really thought this over. They'll never give you the option to modify their system without locking you out of its features.
