Best OS?
linux is the best for hacking, customizing etc. and doin whatever u want with it...its free too!!
windows (only xp) is good for the wide compatibility of software hardware etc and the general support by every technological entity out there
mac is superb media wise but in my opinion fails at everything else
so i think if those developers would join to combine all the good points of each os, that wud be the best os
so yeah... nvmd me im rambling and not even answering ur ? haha |

linux is a OS for knowledgeable people if you don't like learning how to use things, don't even bother, if you eager, then try it out, their software is free The Linux Home Page at Linux Online
I will not mention MACs because they are expensive and impractical for the average consumer |

Whether you like it or not, Windows is the best and most popular OS. Mac OS follows next, with Linux/Ubuntu etc being way behind. |

Well yes, if you want the most compatible (ignoring Vista), easy to use, reliable OS, then Windows is your only choice. Mac OS still isn't compatible with a lot of software and hardware, Linux being even further behind. |

Xp until windows 7 comes out.
Compatibility is the issue here. Most everyting is designed for windows.
Here is my view on it:
You buy a car (windows) and 80% of the gas stations that exist carry fuel that the car can use. Inside the gas station the have tonnes of other stuff for sale.
You buy a car (mac) only like 15% of the gas stations that exist carry fuel that the car can use. Inside that gas station they only carry tofu and bottled water.
You buy a car (linux) its a hybrid electric, and fuel cell engine. There are no places to fuel it, you pretty much havta charge it from home and make your own hydrogen or use other ppl's home made hydrogen, but no-one is really offically licensed to do so, but it still works out pretty good cause its free and you dont need to buy gas. Plus you prolly hate the oil companies anyway : )
