    From XBMC4XBOX » …Happy 10 Years Xbox… » XBMC4XBOX

    November 16th, 2011 Xman

Ten years ago today, the XBOX console was first introduced to North America. Since then, it has seen the release of many great games, including many of the best selling video game series’ of all time, and one of the largest online communities for games which allows gaming online, downloading new games/content, and tv, movie, and music streaming. The XBOX is now one of the top selling consoles of all time.

Even more impressive however, are the efforts of people who receive no compensation for their work other than the thanks of like minded people. Shortly after the release of this console, a modding community was founded and has been growing steadily since then. XBOX users are now able not only to play XBOX games, but games from nearly every console up to the 5th generation through emulators. There are also full versions of Linux running very well on this console.
XBOX users also have access to arguably the best media center application on any platform. XBMC started because the XBOX needed a good media player, but it evolved into something so much larger. Streaming media files from the network with library organization, weather support, XBOX game trainers, a game/program launcher, and an entire build of python to run a plethora of scripts which can be created by anyone. XBMC has been unsurpassed by many other media applications, some of which you must pay for.
The best part about all of this? It is available completely free and open-source, made by other XBOX users in their free time.
I think it’s high time to congratulate everyone who has contributed to make this console come as far as it has.

Thank you Mwaterbu for allowing me to post this on the front page as I don’t believe I could have written it better.
Happy birthday Xbox Classic and thanks for all the good times.
    Xman.
and heres my own lil Happy Birthday to this aging yet almost as versatile as the PSP Console,

well being a month late Nov 16th 2001 Xbox 1 Hits the US Market!since then it's launched decent games. innovative online systems (XBL), first system to employ DLC, Paved the way for others to take the idea about System updates via disc, (yes some Xbox1 games did have a Dashboard update on em !) (Sony wanst the first w/ the PSP :P) and Voice chat! ( a few did use XBL for voice!)

then when the homebrew and hacking community Opened up on teh Xbox it grew into a Varity of Uses! Linux Box, cheap (and verry decent) TV Top Media center![XBMC], Arcade Unit! (thru Console and handheld emulators upto 5th gen (n64/PS1/GBA) w/ Custom arcade kits/Controllers, and Much more!

The Homebrew Community Helped this Basicly TV Top PC Live Past Microsoft's Product Lifecycle! Which Offically ended April 14th 2009 when XBL for Xbox was Officially Terminated.

here its December 14th 2011 abd it still lives on. thru homebrew devs and yes Even Microsoft in their own way with thier "Xbox Classics" on XBL

What does the Future hold for this Aging Wonder Console? What does the Future look for its younger Cousin the 360? only time Will tell. till then. Happy (Late) 10th Birthday Xbox Orginal!

I didn't get into the Xbox as much as I thought I would when I bought it but it's still a great console even today. I was just super into PS2 at that time. I gave my chipped Xbox to a friend of mine when I got my 360S though.

I'd encourage you to read the rules for the forum. They're pretty straightforward and there aren't many of them. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/introdu...uncements.html

I still have mine loaded with a 400GB HDD and all my old games + emulators. It's a champ.

I'm not a pirate. I am a 21st century Che liberating files from the capitalist overlords.

yes but the community supporting it is still thriving, theres still updates to emulators, still updates to custom dashboards, and constand updates to XBMC4XBOX so i'd say its still verry much alive,
