Pick your top 5 and short reason why.

1.) Final Fantasy 7 - First RPG I ever played got me into the genre.

    2. Diablo 2 - Everything about it.

    3. Champions Of Norrath - The story was good great new game plus modes.

    4. Blackthorne - Classic sidescoller adventure shooter also very under rated.

    5. Front Mission - Love mech games.

    Those aren't oldschool games

And I have SO MANY favorites...

    PC:
    *Doom
*Diablo (Honestly, the first one was way if you didn't care about multiplayer.)
    *The Baldurs Gate series
    *Duke Nukem 3D
    *Blood

    Panasonic 3DO:
    *Return Fire
    *Off-World Interceptor
    *Dragon's Lair
On the subject of this console, I'm surprised there's not a 3DO emulator for the PSP. It was less powerful than the PSX.

    NES:
    *Air Fortress
    *Excitebike
    *Nightshade
    *Battletoads
    *The Zelda series
    *The Castlevania series

    SNES:
*Final Fantasy 4 (FF2 in US)
*Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 in US)
    *U.N. Squadron
*Star Ocean (As in the first one. DeJap has a very well done English translation)
*Tales of Phantasia (Ditto on the English translation)
*The Seiken Densetsu/Secret of Mana series
    *Top Gear
*Zelda: A Link to the Past
    *Battletoads - Double Dragon
    *The Castlevania series
*Way too many more to list here

    Genesis:
    *The Sonic series
*Zero Wing (Besides the "All Your Base" meme this was a pretty solid shooter)

    PSX:
    *The Resident Evil series
*Final Fantasy VIII and IX (VII was great too, but compared to previous and later FF games it wasn't worth the insane amount of praise it received.)
    *The Gran Turismo series
    *Castlevania: SoTN
*Grandia (This is an amazing underrated RPG that holds up well to this day)
    *The Jet Moto series
*Way too many more to list here

    N64:
    *Zelda: OOT
    *Conker's Bad Fur Day
    *Top Gear Rally
Notice that Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are not on this list. I was too busy playing Unreal (a true shooter with incredible visuals and immersion for the time) when those two were popular. I played them but I didn't think they were worth all the hype.

    Dreamcast:
*RE: Code Veronica (This is the entire reason I bought the damn console )
    *Crazy Taxi
*Sonic Adventure was cool for a minute
    *Jet Grind Radio
*Virtua Tennis (This was such a great party game. It was so good it was the Dreamcast's killer app for like two whole years.)

    Gameboy/GBA:
    *Sword of Mana
*The Pokemon series (I never did finish any of them, though)
    *The Metroid series
*The Castlevania series (Best games on the system by far, along with the two Metroid games)

Definitely do, there's a lot of great oldschool gaming to be had with emulators these days. I especially recommend the following:

    *The Castlevania series.
I wouldn't blame you for starting with Symphony of the Night and working your way up from there, the original Castlevania games were basic and very difficult. SoTN and most of the CV games that came after it follow a more 'Metroid' design philosophy, where you can explore the entire castle (mostly) at your leisure; you sometimes need to find certain items to access other parts of the castle. But the end goal is always to kill Dracula and his minions. The later CV games are such an incredibly efficient time-sink it's not even funny.

    *The Metroid series.
Start with the original Metroid on NES if you're feeling brave, or you could do Zero Mission on GBA; it is an updated remake of the first Metroid game with new features, visuals, and an added chunk of story. Then, move on to Super Metroid on SNES and Metroid Fusion on GBA (this is the canonical timeline.) All of them are efficient time-wasters

The best part is that all of these games run flawlessly on PSP emulators

    1) GTA: San Andreas
    - Spent years playing this game because I couldn't afford the current generation console... my life right there.

    2) Tekken 2
    - Remember playing this with my Dad when I was three years old, I think it was the first console game I ever played.

    3) Banjo and Kazooie
    - My friend and I tried so hard to beat this Nintendo 64 classic... we never did succeed.

    4) Age of Empires II
    - Lunch times were spent at school huddling around the computer playing AOE 2... it was 'the' game to play.

    5) Pac Man
    - Oh how hard I try to beat the first level.

I absolutely love old-school games... neither did I mention The Pokemon Series, Final Fantasy Series, Donkey Kong, Time Crysis, GTA 2, Tomb Raider... I could go on forever. Classics are the best!

These would be my "desert island" games, meaning if I had to spend the rest of my life on an island by myself then these are the games I would take for each system. I'll do 5 games per system otherwise there would be too many. Each of them are, in my opinion, required to own if you already have the system. Sorry Sega fans, I never had Sega stuff back in the day so it doesn't mean enough for me to have any now.

    NES:
    Super Mario Bros. 3
    Mega Man 2
    Castlevania
    Mega Man
    The Legend of Zelda

SNES: (OMG, how can I possibly list only 5? Should be like 30)
    Chrono Trigger
    Super Mario World
    Super Castlevania IV
    Mega Man X
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

PSX: (another category that I should be listing 30 games for and not 5)
    Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
    Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy Tactics (IDGAF what anyone says, this is "the best Final Fantasy", although I'd recommend you play the PSP remake instead)
    Metal Slug X
    Gran Turismo 2

My favorite would be one and only..Mario super bros..i just loved that game...i remember returning back from my school and turning on my gaming system while my mother shouted at me. But the most annoying thing was that i never got to the end of the game.every time it said your princess is in another castle.

Man, in some ways the bots are better than they've ever been but in other ways they're as dumb as ever.
