as if lately playing online with these gameless skilled users with modded controllers wasn't bad enough, now it seems they're breaking through with eliminating the usb hacking method to a chip installed into the modded controllers. hoping Sony keeps fighting them off, also had seen that these hackers can now play online as well a MWF2 patch that makes psn/sony think it's seeing the game and not the hacker.

but here's the read up on the controller:

There will come a time, and possibly quite soon, where Sony will have to come up with a better long-term strategy for dealing with piracy than fighting a constant arms race with hackers. It wouldn't be all that surprising if it adopted a policy similar to that of Microsoft and banned any hacked PS3's it detected from going online. We'll have to wait and see what path Sony actually takes, however.
Thats all they gotta do. Just ban the freckin consoles. Its already known that its pretty tough soldering that piece onto the controller, and I don't really see how it could be mass produced in such a fashion as Pandora Batteries were. I have a sneaking suspicion that Sony is going to try to implement some new firmware that inb4's yet another cool feature we have just to stop the hackers. Sure its in the best interest of the end-user to let them do whatever they want with the hardware, but the its not necessarily the best for Sony. IDK.

Until there is an across the board requirement for broadband speeds to play online, you will always see people lag switching, or playing on a overall bad connection. Cheaters gonna cheat I guess. The easiest game to compare dropped inputs to online latency is any fighting game. Fighting games are based around single frame actions, 1/60th of a second (or "just frames"), so any latency issues can make timing this single frame action nearly impossible. Other game genres still need "just frame" inputs, but the core mechanics are usually not based on this like fighting games are.

This reminds me of the last drives MS put in the fat 360s. Those were a pain in the ass to work on.

These aren't "new", by any stretch. They've been out since AT LEAST Call Of Duty: 4. In fact, I had one for shits and giggles once upon a time...

EDIT: By, "modded controllers", do you mean turbo controllers?

Turbo or Rapid Fire as they are called. A short way to explain it to others is "A controller for people who suck at games". I wouldn't buy one of them if I was being forced to, my gamming respects to high. I kick major azz on Halo Reach when others use cheats and modded controllers. Die stupid cheater, DIE!!! >BD

you have to read what was posted...they're now using them to perform hackings on the ps3 instead of the usb dongle methods...but like brokenroses stated as well, these controllers are for those who suck and need to cheat to win and feel good about themselves. they make any gun that's semi automatic fully automatic and like the M-16 which is 3 round bursts to automatic 3 round bursts and fire much faster than normal.

Sony just needs to swing the banhammer and blacklist some MAC addresses. They should man up and do a ban wave every month unlike MS's yearly ban.
If i was in charge of Sony or MS i'd be banning the shit out of people.

Read the article douchenozzle*. The modded controller allows piracy and hacks, not autofire or whatever shit kids do these days. They've effectively built PsGroove into a DS3.
