After i installed some patches/updates i went to start up GT5 after a few screens it says i don't have enough memory for 32mb when i have around 120gb~ free.

I googled and found a post on yahoo saying delete the game update but then you won't be able to play online (OP was having troubles with Black Ops)

what size Hard drive do you have? I read somewhere that GT5 takes a lot of Mem, check the back of the game to see how much is needed...

so you have 120GB's open on your ps3 but it wont let you install 256mb?

does this happen with other games or just GT5?
in your post "Delete the game update"? yeah you can delete it and re download it and see if that helps.
or do a back up and reformat...

    I just read this,

    MusterBuster - community.eu.playstation.com

    Hey guys,

I just thought I'd give you a quick heads-up about the GT5 install.
There are 2 install options available to you:

    1. Bulk install
    2. Install on the fly

Bulk install is just a straight up install option. This will install 6.4GB of data to your HDD drive. That data is information that would otherwise take a long time to load from a Blu-Ray; such as cars, textures and tracks.
Install on the fly will install the same data as described above, but will only do so once you access that data. In other words, install on the fly wont install the Nurburgring track to your HDD until the first time you try to load it. This makes accessing new menus, cars and tracks slow - but only for the first time you access them.

Obviously, if you're hideously excited and can't bear to wait 40 minutes for the bulk install, go for on the fly. However, I highly recommend you set some time aside to do the bulk install - especially before you go online. Just set it going, then make yourself a nice hot meal - it'll probably be the last one you eat for a few days after starting GT5 anyway.
Of course, you can also choose to 'stop installing data' from the options menu. This will force your PS3 to load all data from the Blu-Ray instead of installing it.
Whatever you choose, enjoy Gran Turismo 5 when you get your hands on it - and I'll see you in my Viper SRT-10 on Nurburgring

Stock parts. Also, Sony did a limited run of 120gb drives. By and large you won't find many people with upgraded drives. You are certainly in the minority.

Lol, which that means I'm right. Lol.

I didn't know that the Sony FW took 40 GB away from you. I only own a stock 40gb, so the most I've ever had was 37.

    thanks.

I removed gt5's game data (not the save) which had the bulk data in it (around 6-8gigs).

After i deleted it it runs fine now, atm doing "fly download" does take a while to load but i rather wait than not play at all

    thanks all
