I realize that the PS2 system data doesnt work for all PS3 systems but somebody told me that if you back up your PS2 game in ISO format then you can move it to your PS3 HDD or just play it off of an external HDD because somehow the PS3 system kind of makes a virtual disc that is able to play
The guy that told me this is my brother and I didn't think he was right so I decided to ask people that know what they are talking about

What you're describing is exactly what the PSP does with PS1 ISO's.

However, the the PS3 doesn't have an inbuilt emulator for PS2 games.

The system data is for games that require data to be installed to the HDD(FF11)..kinda useless as most games that required HDD on PS2 sucked.

Kinda interesting that the hard drive and network adapter for Phat PS2's is serving a FAR more extensive and useful purpose in the homebrew scene. I run all my games from it with HDLoader 0.8c because I don't want to use up precious hours on the PS2 laser's (usually) short life.

I did use my PS2 w/HDD and Network adapter for the same reason but my son kinda broke my controller by dipping it in the toilet so kinda just sits there now.
