03-14-2011, 06:55 AM I own an original 60 gb PS3, which plays both PS2 and PS3 games. I am current with the OFW and everything still works. However, I do get some freezes while playing PS3 games and NCAA 11 is almost unplayable.
Is my Bluray on its last leg? If it dies before I replace it, will my PS3 still work once I can replace the Bluray??

03-14-2011, 08:15 AM could be the bluray or just unstable firmware downloads.i get bad freezes on home and stuff as well,i doubt its the bluray but it still could very well be.if you never modded it you should be able to go to the playstation store and buy a service plan again.or you can find a repair shop have someone look at it or fix it yourself.if you dont know how to replace the drive without messing up the third one be your last option,and i dunno if i trust sony with your b/c ps3.theyll prolly try to upgrade it to the sucky newer models.so eitheir find a repair shop or do it yourself if your confiddent enough.good luck!
03-14-2011, 02:16 PM i have replaced the laser only on that same type of ps3 for a co-workers son-in-law...cost us 56$ to get the laser on ebay, took me 20 mins start to finish and it's still rocking.
just throwing it out there how easy it is...Sony will charge basically what you could pay to just get another ps3
